About EAP Board Service

The EAP Governing Board has legal and fiduciary responsibility for the association operations, working in partnership with the executive director. As the association's primary stewards, the EAP Board is also responsible for learning with the future to make effective decisions that will ensure the association is capable of thriving in the years ahead.

Governing Board Expectations

  1. Attend, and prepare carefully for and fully participate in all board meetings as part of an ongoing process of building for high performance.

  2. Operate within a team dynamic and accept shared responsibility for stewardship of the association.

  3. Provide the executive director with overall direction and as requested, advice and guidance on matters of specific concern.

  4. Operate in accordance with association bylaws and policies, antitrust law, as well as local, state and federal laws.

  5. Participate in a committee of the governing board.


Board Meeting Frequency and Duration

The Governing Board convenes six - eight times per year, mostly on a bi-monthly basis via Zoom. Meetings generally last two hours. In addition, the Board will likely convene for in-person meetings twice throughout the year, with each meeting lasting up to one full day. As mentioned above, attendance at all meetings is a non-negotiable expectation of board service.


Board Term of Service

Each Director term is three years in length, renewable for a max of two consecutive terms.
